Entering the Inner Sanctuary

Enter this sanctuary time by settling down, becoming quiet, and breathing deeply a few breaths. Remind yourself you are in the Presence of Love. This place you are entering, within, is the inner Temple. Here, you are One with Spirit. You may use a mantra, or prayer phrase, follow the breathing in-and-out, or witness the arising and falling of all around you as the manifestation of universal-Grace. Enjoy these moments of Quiet and come out when you are ready.

Spiritual Teaching

A woman told of visiting a market in Mexico. She saw a Mexican peasant who had brought in produce and sold it. He, then, moved about with his little daughter, hoping to buy a wooden pail.

While the father was selecting a pail, the little girl stopped at a gaudy stall. There, a woman put in her hands a bright parsasol with a painted paper top. She raised and lowered it for the child. The little girl held it up for her father with pleading eyes.

He had bought the pail. He had no money to buy the parasol. The father slowly shook his head "No." The daughter gave the parasol back. She ran quickly and gladly to her dad. She took his hand. They walked on together.

A great confession speaks of prayer as raising our desires to God to see if they are agreeable to him, and in the vigil of prayer, there frequently comes what the Quakers call a 'stop in the mind' about specific things which, until then, had been taken for granted as acceptable, or at least as passing a minimal nihil obstat (nothing against).

Responding

Reflect prayerfully on how OneLife's message today applies to you. Have you received confirmation in Prayer that something you had wanted, even felt was the Divine will, was not? What was that experience like for you?

OneLife Ministries is an independent ministry, but not presently with nonprofit legal status. Love gifts to support the spiritual Work of Brian Kenneth Wilcox are appreciated.
